Wellbeing and Mental Health at Storyybrook School

At Storyybrook School, we know that positive mental health is the foundation for a successful and fulfilling education. Our mission is to provide every student with the support they need to thrive emotionally, socially, and academically.

Our Approach

We provide education for children learning within Key Stage 2 and 3.

Children aged 7-13 face a wide range of challenges that can impact their mental health and wellbeing. Some of these include:

  • Difficulties with friendships and social interactions
  • Changes in family circumstances
  • Academic pressures or struggles with learning
  • Experiences of trauma or loss
  • Navigating neurodevelopmental disorders such as ADHD and ASC

We understand that these challenges can manifest in many ways, including low self-esteem, difficulty managing emotions, or struggling to engage in school. These difficulties can create barriers to learning and personal growth, making it even more important to address mental health and wellbeing proactively.

Positive mental health is key to unlocking every child’s potential. When children feel safe, valued, and supported, they are better equipped to:

  • Build positive relationships with peers and adults
  • Stay engaged and motivated in their learning
  • Develop resilience and problem-solving skills
  • Navigate challenges with confidence

At Storyybrook, we place mental health and wellbeing at the heart of everything we do. By nurturing emotional wellbeing, we create an environment where students can grow academically, socially, and personally.

Our school is designed to be a safe and nurturing space for every student. We offer:

  • Tailored Support: Personalised learning plans and one-on-one support to meet each child’s unique needs.
  • Mental Health Programs: Delivery of the Motional mental health and wellbeing programme to help students build self-awareness and emotional resilience.
  • Trained Staff: A dedicated team trained in supporting children with social, emotional, and mental health needs.
  • Personal Development Activities: Opportunities such as outdoor learning, forest school, and creative activities that promote mindfulness and personal growth.
  • Open Communication: A commitment to working closely with families to ensure the best outcomes for our students.
